Vision

ROAD envisions a world shaped to foster the growth and fulfillment of all its members. ROAD seeks to provide programs that develop strengths, skills,  and self-sufficiency in LGB/SGL/Queer and Trans people of African Descendants.  We believe in the significance of providing support to Trans & Queer individuals across the African diaspora who have been systematically marginalized and excluded from vital resources and opportunities.

• Each year the ROAD project seeks to mobilize individuals to work collaboratively to transform queer and trans communities in Africa through cultural exchange, leadership development, and advocacy.

• ROAD is a crucial bridge and touch point for individuals forced to flee their country of origin due to anti-trans and queer legislation or gender-based violence. Additionally, we support individuals who have been deported from the United States due to systemic racial oppression.

• Our organization is dedicated to creating safe housing, decreasing healthcare barriers, and fostering meaningful connections to promote sustainable growth and opportunities for trans and queer individuals within their home communities.

ROAD approaches cultural exchange and community-building work by cultivating a cross-continental and inter-generational travel experience. We focus on healing, empowerment, advocacy, education, and Global Solidarity. Our work fosters an exchange of ideas and practices that generate safety and sustainable economic abundance for Trans and Queer communities within and beyond the African diaspora.
